Estrogens have been known to be present in substantial concentrations in men for several decades, yet their role in male physiology remains an area of considerable uncertainty and controversy. As interest in testosterone (T) deficiency and T therapy (TTh) has recently increased, there has been renewed interest in estrogens, particularly their role in sexual function. T and estrogen are inextricably linked, as T is a major source of estradiol (E2) via aromatization.
JAMA reported that a daily multivitamin may reduce the risk of cancer by at least eight percent. While that may seem like an insignificant amount, is isn't, according to Professor Balz Frei from the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University. "Given that more than 1.6 million new cancer cases are diagnosed in the US each year, this translates into about 130,000 cancers prevented every year, and with it all the healthcare costs and human suffering", he said. "Quite simply, a multivitamin is the cheapest health insurance a person will ever buy."
There is so much confusion about the use of hormones in pre and post menopausal women, especially after the largest study ever undertaken using two female hormones was halted due to increased incidence of breast cancer in women. I will try to attempt to distill issues related not only to female based hormone therapy (estrogen and progestin) but also to the use of testosterone replacement therapy in women.
Why and how do we form bonds and social connections? What makes people fall in love, and what happens during sex (biochemically, that is)? Why are some people more generous than others? Recent developments in the fields of medicine and neuroscience have recently begun to shed light on these questions, and emerging research reveals that a nine amino acid peptide known as oxytocin plays a central role in human social behaviors and interactions such as bonding, attachment, sexual activity, emotion recognition, and trust-building. Popularly dubbed “the bonding hormone,” “the cuddle hormone,” and even “the love hormone,” oxytocin is indeed essential to human connections; however, these catchphrases may be somewhat narrow in light of oxytocin’s wide range of physiological and behavioral functions, not to mention its huge therapeutic potential for treating a variety of disorders, and its role in enhancing mood, well-being, and even sexual function.

One of the main side effects of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is the reduced size of testicles in men. But there is something that can be done about this problem that most men on TRT do not know. HCG, a peptide used in fertility, has been shown to do help prevent testicular atrophy (shrinkage).
The following is an excerpt from an article entitled Bioidentical Hormones: Why are they still controversial?
One reason that facial skin "shrivels" as we age is that our normal hormone production markedly declines. To make matters worse, blood microcirculation to our skin is reduced as we grow older, thereby depriving our skin of the small amount of natural hormones our body still makes. A large number of published scientific studies reveal that estrogen exerts potent anti-aging effects on the skin. The topical application of natural estrogen can provide dramatic improvements to the skin without systemic absorption concerns.
Defy Medical offers test kits which analyze things such as your nutritional deficiencies, amino-acid levels, and toxin exposure. More advanced health tests are also available which identify hormone imbalances, cardiovascular disease risk, and gastrointestinal flora. As more patients take an active role in managing their health, and clinicians focus on prevention, these diagnostic tests provide a more complete picture of health and help identify problems before chronic conditions and diseases develop. A color graphic report describes each test result, allowing the development of a personalized approach to optimal health. Each test includes a clinician lab review to determine a nutritional protocol which will address any deficiencies and target your resulting symptoms. Customized nutritional supplements, which are tailored to your specific test report, are available through one of our preferred compounding pharmacies. Contact patient services to find out what tests are available or to order your test kit today.
PENN STATE (US) — Despite a rise in obesity, fewer doctors are offering weight counseling to their patients, new research shows. The findings are especially true for patients with high blood pressure and diabetes, according to the study, published in the journal Medical Care.
Researchers analyzed data from the National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey for the years 1995-1996 and 2007-2008. The national survey collects information about the provision and use of outpatient medical care services in the United States. The 2007-08 data was the most recent available at the time of the study, and the two time periods were chosen because the survey structure was similar for better comparisons.

Purpose: Testosterone replacement therapy results in decreased serum gonadotropins and intratesticular testosterone, and impairs spermatogenesis, leading to azoospermia in 40% of patients. However, intratesticular testosterone can be maintained during testosterone replacement therapy with co-administration of low dose human chorionic gonadotropin, which may support continued spermatogenesis in patients on testosterone replacement therapy.
Hear the word “testosterone” and the first thing you might think is aggression.
But new research from the University of Bonn shows that the oft-misunderstood hormone may foster social behavior and honest interactions.
Researchers gave 46 people testosterone gel and 45 people a placebo. The next day, all 91 people were invited to roll the dice in private, report the numbers they landed on, and receive money based on their results—with the higher rollers netting more cash. After paying out the participants, the researchers found that men who received the testosterone gel self-reported their numbers more honestly.
Dr. Justin Saya consulted our team from APS Pharmacy to develop MIC-Lipo capsules based on our observation of current weight-loss protocols which include weekly MIC-Lipo injections. Although a weekly MIC-Lipo injection has been shown to significantly assist patients in fat loss who are eating a low calorie diet, physicians following such protocols are just scratching the surface of the potential of this nutraceutical compound. When MIC-Lipo is injected, it remains active within the body for roughly a day. Some of the components, such as B12, may remain active longer due to storage in the liver, but I have yet to find any conclusive evidence. In other words, when following a once-weekly MIC-Lipo injection protocol the patient really only benefits from the MIC-Lipo for a short period of time.
Lipolysis is defined as “the breakdown of fat” and essentially refers to our ability to reduce body fat stores (fat-loss!). Our goal for each patient is to promote optimal lipolysis (fat loss) through nutrition, exercise, and science. Our weight-control protocol includes the use of Lipotropic medications in order to effectively promote fat-loss faster for the individual patient. Lipotropics can be administered safely at home using a very small syringe. When used along with a managed low-glycemic diet
A new study on men with type 2 diabetes shows that those with low levels of testosterone may die sooner unless they are given testosterone replacement therapy. The findings will be presented today at the Society for Endocrinology annual meeting in Birmingham by Professor Hugh Jones (Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Sheffield).
Amino acids are the breakdown products of proteins, some of which are not readily available in diet and need to be supplemented in a concentrated form. They are the building blocks of proteins. Proteins play a very important role in maintaining our health and make up a big part of the diet. The three main macro-nutrients found in food include carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Proteins are required in our diet, as they are an important building block of muscle and brain tissue.
The symptoms of low testosterone can include diminished interest in sex, erectile dysfunction (ED), reduced lean body mass, depressed mood and lack of energy. If you are experiencing diminished interest in sex, ED or multiple symptoms together such as lack of desire to have sex and lack of energy you should talk to your doctor.
Low testosterone can be easily identified and treated. As a starting point, take the Androgen Deficiency in the Aging Male (ADAM) questionnaire below. This may be helpful in assessing your likelihood of having low testosterone.
Defy Medical can check your testosterone levels with a simple blood test which can be performed anywhere in the US. If you do have low testosterone it can be easily treated. There are several treatment options available such as gels, patches or injections that increase the amount of testosterone in your body. Our Testosterone Restoration program includes the necessary lab work along with close physician monitoring. In addition, our medical team is available to assist patients at any time during therapy. Although the Alpha Infusion contains an ample supply of B vitamins, there are certain conditions in which additional IV B-vitamins can be greatly beneficial. The Vitamin B Infusion contains high dosed B-Complex plus methylcobalamin.
Studies show that children with ADHD have lower tissue levels of the omega-3 fatty acids eiosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaeinic acid (DHA) as compared to kids without ADHD.
The January 1st 2003, issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry contained a study which outlined the effective treatment of depression in men by supplementing testosterone (TRT). These men had low testosterone levels along with depression, however this has been found to be a common correlation. The study analyzed the responses of those who took the testosterone to a battery of psychological tests. They found higher moods, less guilt and anxiety, and a decrease of suicidal thoughts. These analyses suggest that the hormone can cause improvements in both the mind and body.
Lipo-C is a custom formulated lipotropic injection used to promote body fat reduction and preserve lean muscle tissue. Lipotropic injections can also be used to maintain healthy liver function and protect the liver from disease.
Sermorelin(GHRH) is a bio-identical hormone that has recently been genetically engineered to stimulate the secretion of Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone (GHRH) from the hypothalamus, a gland adjacent to the pituitary gland.
